Evergreen Land is a holding company that owns approximately 3 acres of commercial property on the Northeast side of the intersection of Interstate 65 and Highway 83, exit 96.
In 1996, GHS purchased 25 +/- acres of land from Conecuh County as a future location for an EMC replacement hospital that was, at the time, being planned. Ultimately, we decided not to pursue the replacement hospital at that time but did use part of the land to build our Sleep Inn and Suites. The remainder of the property, other than the lot used to build the hotel and the 3 acres retained by Evergreen Land, LLC, was sold to the City of Evergreen to meet the needs of the city's expanding commercial market for retail space. This land is in the process of being developed by the City of Evergreen as an upscale retail development called Liberty Park.
